Fire caused $150,000 in damages to the public bathroom facility at Kanaha Beach Park early Sunday morning, fire officials said on Tuesday.
The fire is under investigation but an incendiary cause has not been ruled out, officials said.
Time of alarm was at 4:15 a.m. with crews finding the bathroom facility at the Kahului park “fully involved” with fire. Personnel then worked on fire control and extinguishment. The fire was under control at 4:30 a.m. and extinguished at 6:40 a.m.
Responding to the fire were Engine 10 and Tanker 10 from Kahului along with assistance from State Department of Transportation Aircraft Rescue and Fire Fighting personnel.
